Route 760 Cafe sits just outside Lochwinnoch in Newton of Barr, serving as a welcoming stop for locals and travelers alike. It’s the kind of cafe where familiarity runs deep — regulars swing by on weekends for the hearty breakfasts while passing visitors, including bikers and electric car drivers, find more than just a convenient charge point or pit stop here.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, often buzzing with a mix of weekend locals looking for a generous, freshly cooked meal and visitors drawn by the cafe’s easy-going vibe. The staff handle busy moments with warmth, making space for lingering over a strong, piping-hot cup of tea or a casual bite between rides or drives. Dogs are part of the scene too, welcomed without fuss, which adds to the community feel.

Food leans on comforting classics that satisfy without pretense. Standouts mentioned by frequent visitors include the mega breakfast and fluffy pancakes with bacon — perfect fuel before heading back out on the roads or trails that weave through the surrounding countryside. The ham and cheese toastie offers a straightforward, filling option at any time of day, while the cafe’s selection of gin provides a nod to those wanting something a bit different after a long journey or a lazy lunch.

If you’re passing through—whether arriving on a bike, an electric car, or simply exploring local lanes—the cafe feels like a spot to pause and connect. Early mornings and weekend afternoons tend to be busier, making those quieter weekday visits a chance to enjoy the cozy interior and the local chatter without hurry. It’s this blend of homely comfort, practical amenities, and authentic local character that defines Route 760 Cafe beyond just a standard caffeine fix.

CalMac ferry closed so had to route north over Erskine Bridge in all-electric car. First EV charge place found was outside Route 760 Cafe. Cafe about to close, but staff so welcoming and friendly. Gave us food and drink (plus some free cakes!) before setting on our way. 6 miles later road blocked by over-turned car! Had to return via Lochwinnoch so eventually got to Claonaig too late for ferry. Made destination Arran next morning. Miserable journey made memorable by Route 760 Cafe! Many, many thanks.

During our visit to Route 760 cafe, my son and I indulged in some delicious sandwiches and pancakes. The sandwiches were fresh and filling, and the pancakes were fluffy and mouth-watering. The cozy ambiance of the cafe added to our experience, making it a memorable one. We can't wait to visit again!

If you have a motorbike... if you like motorbikes... if you like motorbikers... if you like enjoy the authenticity, you should come to 760 Cafe. I have been coming practically since I met them in September 2024 and I still feel like family. Don't leave your dog at home, they are welcome.

Great place for a tasty lunch! Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and freshly cooked food. The generous cup of tea is piping hot too. What's not to like? Wish we could visit more often ...

My first visit to route 760 cafe. Won't be my last Great cafe for bikers or anyone to meet up for a chat and some pretty decent grub. This is also a dog friendly place for those who travel with pets. Not sure of the terms & conditions, but your dog(s) may get a sausage free of charge. The atmosphere here during my visit was great. The staff were very friendly. My only regret with Route 760 cafe is it only opens on Saturday's and Sunday's, but i get the reasoning behind that, as explained by the owner. My main advice... Get here early if you want to be in and out in less than an hour. It's so popular on the weekends, it can get really busy. However if you ain't in a hurry and you want some decent nosh at a decent price and a chat with friends, I totally recommend this great wee find 100% I will definitely be going back

What a find! Plenty of parking as well as plenty of seating both inside and out. The owner, staff and patrons were all friendly and welcoming. There's a large cafe with a great selection of food, cakes and coffee, and a wee bar adjoining. It's dog friendly inside and out and the pup was even given a sausage! What more could you ask for?
